Everything you need to know about ReviewAI — how it works, what each feature does, and how to get the most out of your plan.
You set up your business and location, then download a QR code. Place the QR code where customers will see it — at the checkout counter, on tables, or on receipts. When a customer scans it, they see a simple star rating screen. After selecting their rating, our AI instantly generates a set of ready-to-post review texts tailored to your business. The customer picks one they like, it is automatically copied to their clipboard, and Google Maps opens directly to the write-a-review page for your business. They paste and tap post — done in under 60 seconds, no typing required.
No app required. The entire review flow runs in the customer’s browser after scanning the QR code. Customers sign in with their existing Google account (the one they already use for Google Maps) so their review is posted under their real name.
No. ReviewAI generates the review text and copies it to the clipboard, but the customer always makes the final decision to post. This keeps the process authentic, compliant with Google’s policies, and entirely in the customer’s hands.
Every time a customer scans your QR code and selects a star rating, the AI generates a set of review text options for them to choose from. “Review drafts per scan” is how many of those options the customer sees on that single visit.
Free plan: 2 review drafts shown to each customer.
Pro plan: Up to 5 review drafts shown to each customer.
More drafts give customers a better chance of finding text that matches their voice and experience, which increases the likelihood they actually post.
These are two separate, unrelated limits:
Review drafts per scan — how many text options one customer sees when they scan (2 on Free, 5 on Pro). This is a per-visit setting.
AI-assisted scans/month — the total number of times the AI can generate reviews for customers across the whole month for one location. Think of it as the monthly “capacity” of AI-powered visits.
Example: A café with 30 customers scanning per month on a Free plan would hit the 20-scan limit before the month ends. Upgrading to Pro removes that concern.
Customers can still scan the QR code and view the star-rating screen, but the AI review generation will be temporarily unavailable for that location until the 1st of the next calendar month when the counter resets automatically. You will need to upgrade to Pro if you regularly hit the limit.
Yes. You can upgrade from Free to any Pro plan at any time from the Subscription page in your dashboard. If you upgrade mid-period, we apply a prorated credit so you only pay the difference. You can also switch between Pro billing cycles (e.g., from monthly to yearly).
The AI uses several signals to write reviews that sound like real customers:
Each generated review is also checked against recent reviews for that location so no two customers ever see identical text.
Tone controls the writing style of AI-generated review drafts. Available tones (Pro only):
Tone is set per location in the location settings. Free plan uses Formal by default.
Keywords are specific words or phrases that you want the AI to naturally weave into customer review drafts. For example, a real estate agent might add “Property Knowledge”, “Quick Response”, and “After Sale Service”. The AI tries to include these naturally — it won’t force every keyword into every review.
Keywords are a Pro-only feature, configured per location in the location settings page. You can add up to 10 keywords. ReviewAI also provides category-specific keyword suggestions (e.g., restaurant keywords, real estate keywords) to help you get started quickly.
When SEO mode is enabled, the AI adds location-specific phrases to review drafts — for example, mentioning the city name or describing your business as “the best restaurant in Hyderabad”. This helps your Google reviews contain local search keywords, which can improve your ranking in local search results over time.
SEO mode is a Pro-only feature, toggled per location. It requires your city to be set in the location details.
Free plan supports English only. Pro plan adds:
Language support is enabled per location. When enabled, customers see a language toggle on the review screen to choose their preferred language.
ReviewAI does not post to Google on the customer’s behalf. Instead, after a customer picks a review draft, two things happen simultaneously: (1) the review text is automatically copied to their clipboard, and (2) Google Maps opens to the write-a-review popup for your specific business listing. The customer pastes the text (usually with one tap) and taps “Post”.
This approach requires no special Google permissions, is fully compliant, and keeps the customer in control. The whole process typically takes under 10 seconds.
Your Google Place ID is a unique identifier that Google uses for your business listing on Google Maps. ReviewAI uses it to make sure the review page that opens for customers is the right one for your business.
To find it:
Example: ChIJN1t_tDeuEmsRUsoyG83frY4
The Google Maps URL is a share link for your business on Google Maps. When set, ReviewAI uses it to open the exact write-a-review popup for your business — no searching, no scrolling, straight to the review screen.
To get it: open Google Maps, find your business listing, click “Share” → “Copy link”, and paste it into the Google Maps URL field. While optional, adding it gives customers a much smoother posting experience.
The QR code works best when placed at the moment customers feel most satisfied — right after a positive interaction. Common placements:
Download your QR code as a high-resolution PNG or PDF from the location page in your dashboard. It can be printed at any size without quality loss.
Your business category tells the AI what kind of business you run. This is the single most important signal for generating relevant, specific reviews. A restaurant with category “Restaurant” will get reviews that mention food and ambiance; a clinic will get reviews about doctors and wait times; a real estate agent will get reviews about property knowledge and after-sale service.
Choose “Other” if none of the listed categories fit — you can still get good results by adding a detailed business description and services list.
When enabled and you enter the owner’s name, the AI will naturally mention the owner by name in 1–2 of the review drafts — e.g., “Dealing with Suresh was a pleasure” or “Priya was incredibly helpful throughout the process”.
This personal touch works particularly well for owner-operated businesses like a neighbourhood shop, a clinic run by a doctor, or an independent real estate agent. Leave it off for larger businesses with multiple staff where naming one person wouldn’t make sense.
The AI reads your business description when generating review suggestions for customers. A more detailed and specific description leads to more authentic, differentiated reviews. You can write a rough draft with a few key points and use the “Generate with AI” button to polish it, or use AI to create one from scratch based on your category and services.
Example of a good description: “Family-run South Indian restaurant known for authentic dosas, sambar, and fresh coconut chutney. We source our spices directly from Tamil Nadu and have been serving the local community for 15 years.”
Your services list helps the AI write reviews that mention specific offerings rather than generic phrases. A salon that lists “Hair Coloring”, “Keratin Treatment”, and “Bridal Makeup” will get reviews that feel specific and credible, while no services list results in vague reviews.
You can select from a pre-built catalog of common services for your category, or add your own custom services. You don’t need to list everything — pick the 5–10 most important ones.
When enabled, the AI will include your business name in review text — e.g., “The team at Spice Garden was wonderful”. When disabled, reviews are written more generically without naming the business.
Both approaches are valid. Some businesses prefer reviews that mention their name for SEO reasons; others prefer more organic-sounding reviews that don’t repeat the business name.
Suggestion Count is how many review draft options are shown to each customer when they scan your QR code. Free plan is fixed at 2. Pro lets you set it anywhere from 2 to 5.
More options give customers a better chance of finding text that matches their voice, which increases posting rates. 3–4 is a good balance — enough choice without overwhelming the customer.
